The population in our immediate area of benefit is on the whole older than the Walsall average, with higher percentages of both men and women aged 50 and over. Our project is based on the needs of these individual older people and carers who have voiced concerns regarding current provision – as well as their desire for inspirational and innovative ways to tackle problems faced by the elderly. More importantly, they express a desire to provide local solutions to solve local problems.
Many older people wish to remain independent without recourse to statutory services. These issues include social isolation, deteriorating health, poor diet, health and personal well-being, breakdown of personal relationships and friendships, and fear of advancing technology.
Working in partnership with local people we will be able to establish accountable, fully sustainable and maintainable community strategies for maintenance and development of the resource.
