Carnival Time!

Colourful creative carnival at Pelsall

by Press Reporter Kaisha Ripalo

Manor Farm CA were thrilled to be invited to this year’s prestigious Pelsall Carnival – an event organised by local people that raises thousands of pounds for worthwhile causes in Walsall.

Hundreds of people gathered for the traditional fun fair - courtesy of Pat Collins; or to go bargain hunting amongst the many car boot stalls that had been ‘setting up’ since 5am!

We were lucky to have two stalls playing traditional pub games in the charity arena where we shared the field with other great organisations promoting their valuable work.  We had a variety of great games available to the public. Thousands gathered to take part in all the fun and games, were you there?

On top of all that we prepared a magnificent float to represent our Silver Scheme Bingo Hall and had local people playing for a ‘Full House’ as we toured the Pelsall Village.

Bingo Caller Eddie Atkiss said, ‘It was a really fabulous day. We enjoyed the procession and it was lovely to see the thousands of smiling faces – all willing to throw a few coins into the collection buckets.’

Our charity was delighted to participate and hope that our efforts all helped raise cash for needy causes.

Carol Wilson the MFCA Silver Scheme Co-ordinator said, 'It was hard work but really worthwhile. Our team had a blast and I want to thank everyone who helped make the float, worked on the stalls or came along on the day to give us support.'

It really was a ‘laugh a minute’ as the MFCA team struggled to erect gazebos, decorate the float with balloons and then drag our mechanical minion round the streets, cocking his leg and relieving himself with clean water at people passing by. We certainly raised a few eyebrows as well as a few quid!

The team were still on a ‘high’ at the time of going to press as they start to plan for next year’s carnival. So watch out ... We will want you to get involved in 2017!
