BIG Lottery - BIG Win!

The campaign is over and the votes are in.  After weeks of making Facebook friends, handing out leaflets and asking people to support our project the results are in.

And we did it!

Three West Midlands community organisations were awarded a substantial amount to 'carry on' the good work and make a real difference to the local people.  Rushall Centre in Walsall were one of the BIG three and the event televised across the region.

With the award of £48,825.00, the Rushall Centre will now be able to promote and deliver a wide range of health and well-being activities from their base in Springfields, Rushall .

They were one of only 5 voluntary organisations selected to represent the Midlands region from the thousands who applied for the £50k community prize. And it was you, the voters, who decided where the money will be best spent.  It will encourage people over 55 to take more responsibility for their health and fitness – as well as making new friends and having a great time with people of a similar age!

Chief Executive Gary Bird said, ‘Loneliness is a real killer, and this news will make sure older people have the chance to get out of the house and enjoy activities each week - it’s a real lifeline and lots of fun!’

Because of the wonderful support from Walsall people and beyond older folk will soon have the chance to enjoy fabulously refurbished facilities, new equipment and high quality support to help them stay fit, healthy and happy.

The planned events for Rushall will impact on all Walsall residents so everyone here at Manor Farm Community Association and the Rushall Centre want to thank each and every one of you for voting and your continuing support for what we do – making Walsall a great place to be when growing older!
