You CAN Do It!

We have an awful lot of fun at the Silver Scheme. Our project has been funded through the BIG Lottery Reaching Communities Fund until 2018 and with their generous support we have been able to host regular lunch clubs, take older people to essential medical appointments and provide a handy home help service for minor house repairs, gardening and general ‘tidy ups.’

We organise social events, trips out and a variety of activities that entertain and even educate the local community. Everyone plays their part in making the project a success and everybody wears a smile. It really is great fun!

Funding is always a big issue because whilst we are working towards being self financing we also want to expand our range of services to give people the very best chances in life that we can - which means applying for further funds.

A great opportunity has arisen where we have been invited to write 500 words for the People's Project fund about our proposed project. It’s about how we can raise awareness about health, giving older people the chance to change their lifestyle and personal well-being. We can write 500 words or ... make a 3 minute video. With the talent, enthusiasm and star-struck silver citizens in Walsall there really was no choice ... Silver Screen here we come!

We have uploaded our health, fitness and well-being bid as a video and hope you will take a look and support us in applying for much-needed funds if we are fortunate enough to be shortlisted.

We had a fantastic time making the video and all our Silver Scheme Stars had a great time exercising to music in front of the camera. The ‘Keep Fit’ spoof took no planning, no preparation and contained no prima donnas. Just good natured people willing to join in the fun.

Makes you wonder what could be achieved if more people said, 'You CAN Do It!'

Maybe more people would be willing to ‘have a go’ and change the way things are. People really can change the world, you know. You just have to believe in 'You CAN Do It!

The fund we have applied to is called, The People's Project; and those shortlisted will be featured on Central ITV next Spring.  Hope we make it to the short list and that you vote for us if we are selected. But even if we don't get through, please vote for someone and make a difference to our world.  You CAN Do It!
