Become a Befriender

Become a Befriender

The Silver Scheme goes from strength to strength as we approach the Summer months.  End of school term, warm sunny weather and the prospect of getting away for a few days well-deserved holiday sounds wonderful for most people right now.  Sadly, it is not the same for everyone.  For those living alone and surviving on a small pension, the Summer is just another season to 'get through.'

The many volunteers who work on behalf of older people in Walsall understand that isolation takes its toll, and apart from sitting in front of the television, many older people have little or no companionship regardless of the weather or time of year.

That is where you come in!

Manor Farm are always keen to hear from people who might like to offer as little as an hour each week to befriend an older person who would like some regular company.

Having a cup of tea and sharing memories can really brighten up the day for those who are lonely.

Could you become a befriender?

If you need convincing, please look at the wonderful story written by Angie: https://manorfarmcablog.wordpress.com/2015/06/24/be-a-friend/

Angie is a volunteer Befriender and is truly representative of the wonderful people who care for others in our home town.  And if you would like to find out more about befriending, please give us a call on 01922 614316 or email us at: mfcasilver@gmail.com
