Silver Scheme Needs YOU!

Older people over the age of 55 in Walsall can access a fabulous range of services courtesy of the Manor Farm Community Silver Scheme funded through the Big Lottery.

Those who feel a little lonely or need some support are able to call upon local, friendly and reliable people who understand some of the issues that arise as we grow older. Some people benefit from a regular visit to share some quality time together and chat about past memories, good times and bad; and maybe seek information that might help life become a little easier or a little happier. Not too much to ask is it?

The problem is, we don’t have enough volunteers that can give just one hour each week to befriend some of the lovely older people who need them.

Many of these people ask if we have someone who could drive them to their monthly health check-up at the local hospital. Some ask for a little DIY in the home – everything from putting up a shelf to ironing a couple of clean shirts. As Summer approaches a number of people ask if we can tidy up their garden and do a little weeding!

If only we had more volunteers we could make so many more older people happy.  Can you help?

After a short session talking to our experienced team we will make sure you are confident and equipped to make a real difference to the older community who need us so badly.

There are lots of benefits to being a volunteer. Team spirit amongst our volunteers is really great and it is amazing how much of a ‘buzz’ you get from helping others. We have regular training ‘get-togethers’ which are both informal and enjoyable. Volunteering is flexible and optional – you can do as little or as much as you like and help at times to suit you!

We’d really like to hear from you so why not call or email us? It will be confidential without any obligation and without anything to lose. We can have a chat over the phone or a cup of coffee.

So what are you waiting for? Get in touch and make a real difference to YOUR community.
