Toy Loan Service moves to Pelsall!

Local parents, playgroups and child care centres are celebrating the news that the borough toy lending service has finally been saved from closure and will soon be opening at its new premises in Pelsall.

The Toy loan facility service was unable to continue operating in its previous format due to savings that the authority had to make but Council officials vowed to look at new ways of delivering this valuable service.

Having been under threat for a number of years, local charity Manor Farm Community Association stepped in at the last minute with the offer of new premises and a sound business plan that will hopefully ensure the service continues to thrive – bringing toys, games and pleasure to children everywhere!

Chief Executive Gary Bird welcomed the new addition to the charities activities saying, ‘Children are the most precious possession in our community and deserve the bvery est we can offer. Every child in Walsall needs the opportunity to play safely and with toys and games that will help them learn and develop appropriately.’

Upon refurbishment of the Pelsall Activity Centre situated on the picturesque Pelsall Common, the new toy loan service is scheduled to open in June of this year.

Kim Stokes, early years improvement manager at Walsall Council, has already contacted current service users explaining the change in service delivery. Council officials have looked at the way the service operates in Walsall and are delighted that Manor Farm Community Association was the preferred organisation to sustain and develop the excellent toy resources in the borough.

She said, ‘We needed to work together, differently, to make the best use of all resources and deliver better outcomes for children. We wish Manor Farm and all parents, playgroups and those who wish to borrow toys every success for the future!’

Toys will be available for loan from this Summer and further details will be advertised in the press in due course, as well as at Manor Farm Community Association.  Telephone: 01922 614316
