Rushall on the Gogglebox!

Local people in Rushall are celebrating the exciting news that their community centre has been shortlisted for a prestigious BIG Lottery award and featured on Central ITV for a public vote. They are one of only 5 voluntary organisations selected to represent the region from thousands who applied for the £50k prize money.

If successful, the Rushall Centre hope to promote and deliver a wide range of health and well-being activities from their base in Springfields, Rushall.  This exciting project will encourage people over 55 to take more responsibility for their health and fitness – as well as making friends and having a great time!

The project is called OPERA which stands for ‘Older People Enjoy Regular Activities.’

Great name isn't it?

If enough people vote for the project it will provide lots of leisure activities and sports.  Who knows, we might get walking sports, tired wheels cycling, rambling on and on, crazy golden golf and strictly keep dancing!

It will also share lifestyle and personal well-being information, advice and guidance sessions on weight management, smoking cessation, stress reduction and much, much more.

All 5 organisations shortlisted from across the Midlands were featured on TV with viewers encouraged to vote for the one they feel will benefit their communities the most.

As the planned events from Rushall will impact on all Walsall residents we hope telly addicts everywhere will switch on and support our local community centre now that voting is well underway!
