The Van Man Who Can!

Manor Farm Community Association are delighted to announce that they have been awarded BIG Lottery funding for a new vehicle to support the highly successful Silver Scheme project in Walsall.

BIG Lottery funding has enabled the Rushall-based charity Manor Farm Community Association to purchase a brand new Citroen Berlingo van.

Charity Chief Executive Gary Bird said ‘We are so grateful to the BIG Lottery as this new vehicle will enable our charity to offer a more comprehensive service to local people such as our swift handyman service for odd jobs that keep them safe, secure and happy in their own home.

Everyone at Manor Farm Community Association is delighted with the new vehicle which will complement the Silver Scheme minibus fleet and volunteer driver Eddie Atkiss said, ‘Another reliable, fuel efficient vehicle will help our charity to help do its bit to reduce congestion, minimise pollution and cut carbon emissions - as well play an important role in helping local people in the area.’

The Silver Scheme is a ‘one stop’ service that assists older people in need - regardless of their problems; and with the main aim of reducing loneliness, social isolation and helping to keep people happy and healthy in their own homes and out of hospital and residential care.

The aquisition of the new vehicle is yet another ringing endorsement from the BIG Lottery as their spokeswoman said: ‘We are delighted to be able to support Manor Farm Community Association’s Silver Scheme for older people in Walsall and help fund this essential vehicle. We know it will make a big difference to the quality of life for local people in the area.’
