It’s not New Year ... or is it?

It’s not New Year ... or is it?

Most people think January is the right time to make resolutions and plans to try new activities.  Well at Manor Farm we have found that people get just as inspired and even more motivated to take up learning, hobbies and try new things to do as soon as we launch our programme of activities each September.

Our exciting programme of positive learning activities has now been launched and enrolment is ongoing with the new term which begins in earnest week beginning 21st September.

Adult Education Adviser Terri Fryer said, 'This year looks like being our busiest enrolment year ever.  People are literally flocking in to register for our wide range of eclectic activities.  Whether it be our new 'How to buy and sell on Ebay' course or old favourites such as Spanish, sugarcraft or even English and Maths, you will find what you are looking for here at Manor Farm.’

The demand for course places was certainly impressive as the centre staff promoted over 60 different vocational and recreational courses to local people and to confirm support for each and every need.  One lady registered for level 2 floristry and said, ‘Joining a new class is like opening a present on Christmas day.  You get what you want and know the tutors will make sure you enjoy every minute.  It really is something great to look forward to!'  She went on, ‘This is my seventh consecutive year of doing new classes.  I love it!  So far I have done English, maths, family learning and many more.  With floristry, I hope to eventually open my own business!’

All the details of educational and recreational courses, leisure activities, fitness suite and hire of facilities can be found in the Programme of Activities 2015 or by just clicking on this highlighted link.  Although the enrolment evenings have ended there is still time to register on the course of your choice.  Call into the centre in KIng George Crescent during normal office hours or telephone 01922 614316 for further information.

Other new courses this year include computer care and maintenance, French for Beginners and 'Get Connected - Facebook and Twitter' courses.

The success rate of learners at Manor Farm is impressive with 98.2% achieving success across their chosen subject.  Indeed, maths students recorded 100% at this year’s examination!

So what makes Manor Farm such a great place to learn?

‘We are a centre of excellence’ beamed Terri Fryer.  ‘We have a fantastic team of tutors and a wonderful support system.  We ensure every learner has a programme of study to suit their needs – as well as providing 1-2-1 help to make starting the learner journey as easy as possible.’

Course costs vary and many are completely FREE depending on personal circumstances and Manor Farm may even be able to offer help with travel, childcare and specialist equipment so please ask if appropriate.

And the ‘learner journey’ doesn’t end at Manor Farm.  Chief Executive Gary Bird said, ‘I am so proud of what learners achieve here and of course, my dedicated staff who care so much about the difference high quality education makes to the community.  We have learners at every age group from those in their twenties through to people in their eighties.  Some learn for pleasure and others for a career.  We have learners who have qualified as classroom assistants, teachers, computer programmers and even florists.  The great thing is ... everyone is welcome to learn here at Manor Farm!’

The good news is that there is still time to enrol on the course of your choice.  Just call 01922 614316 for further details.
